The clients wanted a planting design that was “lush and green with a tropical vibe” to fill the concrete retaining wall garden beds. We used a variety of shades of green from deep forest green to bright lime to provide depth and interest. A stunning Cordyline cabbage palm tree flanked by two giant Strelitzia reginae bird of paradise provide height and drama while Acacia ‘Cousin Itt’, black mondo grass, sanseveria, and Ceanothus ‘Diamond Heights’ provide texture and color.
Staghorn Ferns are mounted to the wall behind the seating area, drawing the eye up. Ficus creeping fig will eventually clamber up the concrete walls to soften the overall look of the garden.
