A sundial tucked into a corner of a succulent cobblestone creek is a hidden secret to be discovered on a walk through the garden.

Low Maintenance Mediterranean
After a rotting deck was removed from the space, the client wanted a low maintenance garden that she could view from her upstairs kitchen window. Using the slight slope to our advantage, a quartzite path filled with low water Dymondia and sedum ground covers leads you from the bottom of the stairs, past a gravel garden container installation, and through a garden filled with aloes, agaves, echeverias, olives, lavender, and sword ferns in the shadier corners. The back fence is lined with purple hopseed shrubs for added privacy and color. The result is a laid back, low water garden that’s beautiful to view while looking out the windows above and while relaxing with a cup of coffee on the bench under an olive tree.
